Mrs. Joyce Woodard Gurley

A brief entombment will be held at the mausoleum of Pinecrest Memorial Park immediately after visitation.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon Thursday, March 23, 2023, at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, North Carolina.

She was born in Pine Level, North Carolina, on July 30, 1937, to the late Archie Woodard and the late Ruby Eatmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gurley, and brothers, Bobby Shelton and Robert A. Woodard, Jr. (Ann).

She was retired from the North Carolina State Government and a longtime member of Hocutt Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, the beach and mountains, and baking for her friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Teresa Sauls (Herbie) and Randy Gurley (Sandy); grandchildren, Chris Sauls (Cassie), Brittany Petty (Adam), Andrew Gurley (Ashley), Lindsey Bach (Christopher); 11 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Peggy Aycock, Judy Phillips (Danny), Kay Barbee, and Benny Woodard (Betsy).
