John Hall Corbett, age 81, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Born in Wake County, on February 4, 1943, he was a son to the late Belzoni Corbett and Katherine Keziah Corbett.
John graduated from Garner High School in 1961 and went on to obtain a BS in Accounting from North Carolina State University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969.
John was the State Railroad Utility Manager with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for over 32 years and had a deep love for railroads. His dad was a conductor with the old Norfolk Southern Railroad. John was a member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner. His passion was golf. Playing golf and watching Golf on TV and often napping while watching TV. He loved John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and James Bond movies. John loved beach music and shagging. He and his wife's favorite beach song was With This Ring.
A funeral service will be held at Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner, with Pastor Jeffrey Sholar officiating at 2:00PM on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00PM-2:00PM, just prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, B. A. Corbett, Richard Corbett, Betty Corbett Perry, Tommy Corbett, and David Corbett.
John is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Sandra Byrd Corbett of Raleigh, North Carolina; children, Kristen Clark (Brenda) Monroe, North Carolina, Melissa Stover (Craig) Farmville, Virginia; Deborah Johnson, Garner, North Carolina; Gloria Reid (Jeff) Benson, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jacob Arrowood, Katherine Fulkerson, Jessica Bradley, Sarah Bradley, and Brianna Reid; great grandchildren, Emma Sealey and Elijah Johnson; special nieces, Kathy Blue and Elizabeth Gould; sisters-in-law, Ginger Corbett and Linda Sealey Carter.
