Jimmy Vance Garner, 71, beloved son of God, trucker/transporter, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend, made his final run here on earth on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at SECU Hospice House of Smithfield. Jimmy LOVED to share his home, good food (He was a grill master) with not only family but with anyone in need or willing.
His door was always open. He loved to spend time with people weather it was mowing and caring for yards, watching NASCAR (it was in his blood), fishing, tinkering with motors and mowers or just good ole “sittin” and conversating. He was always a phone call away.
The son of the late Frank Garner and Georgia Betts Garner Vuncannon. He was preceded in death by wife, Wilma “Mickey” Garner and daughter, Bonnie Edwards, brother Larry Garner, sister Judith Spivey.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Cynthia Garner of Smithfield; children, Georgia Butler of Rocky Mount, Ray Faircloth (Michelle) of Clayton, Stacy Flanigan (Patrick) of Smithfield, Steven Russell (Jennifer) of Randleman, Phillip Russell (Nicole) of Asheboro, Jody Faircloth of Clayton. Sisters, Ann Pleasant of Angier, and Peggy Ray (Jerry) of Julian. Also, his 14 beloved grandchildren, some of which he raised. The sparkle in his eyes: Heather, Brianna, Daniel, Anniston, Charlotte, Megan, Devon, Justin, Jackie, Summer, Kristen, Addison, Emma and Christopher, and 6 beloved great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 12:00pm at Mt. Pleasant Advent Christian Church Hwy 42, Clayton, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 prior to the service.
