Jerry Moore Coats

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2024 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Pastor Stanley Kirby officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Pinecrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.

He was born September 27, 1943, in Clayton NC to the late Howard and the late Flonnie Lassiter Coats.

Jerry had a passion for fixing cars. In 1973, he began his own business of performing mechanical repairs on Volkswagens and later went into the business of paint and body repair. Another one of his passions in life was dragging his wife Phyllis to many car shows just to find another one to add to his collection. Jerry was no stranger to hard work and would always put his family first. He enjoyed the time he spent with his friends, whether it be tinkering on a car or just having a simple conversation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, J.C. Coats and Charles Coats; his sister Mary Frances Williams.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Green Coats and daughter Kristi.
