James Homer O'Brien

Because of the contagious spirit that God blessed this dear man with, he will be missed by many. He is survived by his Brothers and sisters William, Thomas, Mike, Gertrude, and Emma. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 37 years, Nicole Obrien, his children, Jaime Obrien, Patrick (Bo) Obrien, Kathy Parker and Step children, Michelle Duncan and Pamela Drane, James Provan and Deborah Provan. Jim was blessed and delighted to have welcomed 28 grandchildren and great grandchildren into this world.

Jim loved his family so dearly. They were the only thing that made leaving this world to meet his Savior face to face difficult. He was known by all as a great lover of life with a contagious smile. He loved gardening, cooking, a good joke, spicy food, making people laugh, serving those in need, mountains, gospel music, and he loved his Church, but most of all he loved Jesus.

At the age of 51 God called him to share His Word far and wide through the Gideon’s. Sharing God’s love was a passion second to none in his life. He dedicated 25 years to the joyful service of spreading God’s Word and considered it his greatest honor.

On behalf of the family we would like to thank all those at Midway Baptist Church for the endless displays of love and service to Jim and the family in recent months. Their Christ like love has been amazing and a great comfort as the family has walked the painful path of loss that has separated them from their beloved husband, father and brother.

Interment will be a private service for family only. Please join us in a celebration of life at Midway Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to honor his memory by donating Bibles to Gideon’s International, that others may know the love of God through His Word.
