James "Fletcher" Boone, age 97 of Smithfield, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. Born in Johnston County, North Carolina on August 4, 1927, he was a son to the late John Boone and Oneeda Sauls Boone.
Fletcher was a proud Army veteran. He owned a gas station in Garner for many years and was also a master mechanic. In his free time, he was a Deacon Emeritus at Shiloh Baptist Church, loved animals, was an avid gardener, and loved building things and working with his hands.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Boone.
The family will be holding a private service for Fletcher.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy Boone; daughters, Wanda Boone and Dianne Blackley; 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
