On October 2, 2022, Charles Edwin Price, Sr., a loved and cherished husband, father, papa, brother and brother-in-law made his final journey home. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Clayton and a retired employee of Wake County Public School System.
He was born on January 10, 1943 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Oscar Lee and Bessie Harris Price Eatmon. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Verona Price; daughter, Rhonda Price Bailey and her husband Butch; son, Dr. Charles E. "Eddie" Price, Jr. and his wife, Kathy all of Clayton. He was papa to five grandchildren, Brett Bailey, Alex Bailey, Eli Price, Bailey Price and Charley Price. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard Ruffin Price (Pete); sisters, Janice Price, Nell Casper (Ronnie) and Debbie Murray (Danny) along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Oscar Eugene Price; sister-in-law, Rose Anderson Price; nephew, Dale Price and Mr. Roby Eatmon, beloved step parent.
While Charles found a career as an HVAC technician and electrician, the work that brought him the most joy was that of working in the soil. Up until recently, he kept a large garden and upon visiting you might find him on the tractor or lawn mower.
The family will receive friends at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 5217 Barber Mill Road, Clayton, NC 27520 on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. with a service of remembrance immediately following at 10:30am. A private committal service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton, N.C.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Johnston Health Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Padma Kamineni and staff; a loving and very special thank you to his siblings, who served daddy faithfully and tirelessly. We would also like to express our gratitude and thankfulness to the SECU Hospice House staff for taking such great care of daddy.
Our hearts are heavy and we are saddened that we must say goodbye but we rejoice in the knowledge that his earthly pain has ended and he is resting peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
