Bobby Sexton Potter Sr.

July 23, 1938 - January 24, 2022

Clayton N.C.- Bobby Sexton Potter Sr., 83, of Zebulon, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Bobby was born to the late William “Dock” and Elsie Potter. In his early life, he proudly served in the United States Army, serving tours overseas including in Korea. Bobby became a member of the Ashford Mason Lodge in Alabama, where he enjoyed the brotherhood that being a Mason provides. He had a passion for fishing, which he often did with his brothers. He was also an avid race car fan. Above all his accomplishments, his greatest treasure was his family. He never missed an opportunity to tell them how much he loved them and how proud of them he was. Everyone who ever met or knew Bobby knows of his deep love for his Lord, his dedication to family, and his heart for service- to know him was truly to love him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie; brothers Ben and Frank; daughter Sharon Wills; and grandson Bobby “Trey” Sexton Potter III.

He is survived by his wife, Gertie of the home; son Bobby Potter Jr. (Rhonda) of Erwin; daughter Pamela Hayes of Lillington; stepdaughter Donna Pearsal (Richard) of Garner; grandchlidren: Jessica Gregory (Brad), Nicole Miranda, Alexus Dillon (Andrew), Shannon Hayes, Crystal Potter, Jason Thorton, Tony Thigpen (Hannah), Justice Pearsal, Katie Strain; great grandchildren: Nicholas Roberts, Eli and Sophia Miranda, Nathan and Logan Gregory, Brayden and Colten and Holden and Gracelyn Dillon, Kyle and Lucas Dickson, Johnny and Heather and Lucas and Haley Thigpen; brothers: Sam, David, Odell, and Johnny; and many nieces and nephews.
