Dad was the eldest son of 6 children born to Esther and Arthur Johnson. His siblings include Doug, Cork, Sally, Melanie and Judy all of whom reside in Battle Creek and Colon Michigan. Judy preceded dad in death.
Dad proudly served his country in the USAF for 26 years, beginning his career as an aircraft mechanic on the B-29 and later on the C-47 Gooney Bird. After spending time at Sac. City college dad moved in with the flight crew as a flight engineer - he loved it! His first assignment was at Travis AFB on the C-141 Starlifter, later to a 'weather' squadron on the KC-135 out of Yakota AFB Japan. Dad served over Vietnam on the C-130 flying support for our rescue helicopters, and eventually retired in Sacramento at McClellan AFB in the 41st. rescue squadron.
Dad married Hazel - the best mom ever - and they raised three children; Roger Jr., Susan and Scott. Was he stubborn, opinionated and drove us bananas at times? He did, but he was our dad and we will miss him soo... much. Take care of mom dad, love ya.
Services will be held 11-15-11 at the Dixon Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. A gathering to follow at the Moose Lodge located at 506 Lincoln Street, Roseville, Ca. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to veterans charities or the Shriners.
