Norma Ruth Marshall (Howard) passed away on June 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband Paul Marshall with whom she was married for 67 years. She was born in Circleville, Ohio, March 29, 1932, the daughter of predeceased Elmer and Vera (DeLay) Howard.
In addition she is predeceased by siblings Emma Louise Matz and John W. Howard. Surviving her is sons Barry (Tonia) of Stoutsville, Ohio, and Thomas(Laura) of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren Dale Ann Pickard(Zach), Clarksville, Tenn, Wade Marshall, St. Charles, Mo, and Mallory Mathias(Ethan) of Stoutsville, Ohio; Step-granddaughter Tiffany Knox(Corey) of Hilliard, Ohio, and her daughter Alexa Clark;
sister-in-law Anna Marie Howard; and many nieces and nephews and very dear friends.
Norma was a 1950 graduate of Circleville High School, a graduate of Lake Erie College, and a longtime teacher in the Circleville School District. She along with her husband were owners of Amanda and Marshall Grain Companies. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and involved in the Luther League. She was a member of the Pickaway Retired Teachers Assn., former volunteer on the Friends of the Library Board, former member of Berger Hospital Guild #39, longtime supporter of the American Cancer Society, where she and her sister chaired the annual Daffodil Days, and also did absentee balloting at the local nursing care facilities with her friend Ruth. She enjoyed being on the 50+ Reunion Committee, and lunches with special friends. She and her husband shared a love of boating and camping and caring for their beloved pets.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family respectfully requests donations to Partners for Paws, Promedica Hospice, New Hope Christian Academy and Early Learning, or Trinity Lutheran Preschool.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8, from 5:00-7:00 and Friday from 10:00-11:00 at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 East Main St, Circleville, Ohio 43113. Services will be held at Schoedinger on Friday at 11:00 followed by burial in Forest Cemetery.
