Robert Mosher

Robert Mosher, 94, La Jolla, passed away on July 26, 2015. He was born in Greeley, Colorado on September 27, 1920. Robert graduated from John Marshall HS in Los Angeles and received B.A. in Architecture from the University of Washington. He was married to Joany Deakin Mosher on April 7, 1978.

Robert opened his architectural office in La Jolla in 1948 and retired in 1991. His partners included Roy Drew 1948-1991, William Watson 1969-1986, and William Ferguson 1972-1998. The firm Mosher Drew continues practicing today. A small sign over the original drafting room read: “We believe the environment should reflect the warmth and unique quality of the human spirit. To the degree that man can accomplish this aim, so will he expand his total resources in our complex contemporary world.”

Robert was deeply influenced by his instructor Lionel Pries, U. of W. and learned his architecture under the watchful eyes of Myron Hunt and Harold Chambers, well-known California Architects, and later Harwell Hamilton Harris.

He was a member of numerous organizations throughout his career and in retirement, and had a passion for sailing, photography and fly-fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Karen Mosher Juhasz (Rick) of Arizona, son Steven Mosher (Karen) of Oregon, granddaughter Stella Grace Mosher of Alaska, and brother Larry Mosher of Colorado.

A celebration for Robert will take place on his 95th birthday at the UCSD Faculty Club on September 27, 2015 at 2:30 PM.
