Craig, who was affectionately known to his friends as Andy, was Born on September 1, 1949 in Kearney Nebraska to Dwayne and Opal Anderson, née Karner.
Craig graduated High School in 1967 from Kearney High School and in 1968 at the age of 19, joined the United States Navy and departed Nebraska for active duty training in the U.S. Navy at the Naval Training Center located in San Diego California. Craig served his country proudly in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972.
After Craig was discharged from the Navy he settled in San Diego where he met and married his beloved wife Amelia Rodriguez-Chavarin in 1985.
Craig retired from the Sweetwater Union High School District in June 2009 and moved to Thermal, California in 2015.
Craig loved his life and will be remembered as a fun loving, kind, easy going, wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
Craig is preceded in death by his Father Dwayne Anderson and his Mother Opal Anderson, née Karner, his sister Gail, and his brother Tyler. Craig is survived by his wife Amelia, his daughters Desirae and Erika, his step-daughter Sandra and his grandchildren Juan Jr., Julianna, Daryl, Ruby, Daryn, and Michael; his brother Roger, his sister Rita, and his nephews James and Shawn.
A viewing for Craig will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel located at 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910.
A celebration of life will occur Monday, May 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910 and a military honors ceremony will follow on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122.
