The son of Charles William Jennings and Virginia Cuba Mitchem, Bill grew up in Asco West Virginia and was born September 13th, 1930.
Bill is survived by a wife, Vonna, and eight children: Kevin, Tony, Pat, Sam, Dawn, Lee, Joshua, Charles, and Tobey. He also had ten loving grandchildren: Jeremy, Grant, Candace, Natalie, Will, Aiden, Liam, Cecilly, Addisyn & Emmett.
Bill is a veteran of both the Korean & Vietnam Wars. For his service, he earned the Good Conduct Medal (5) times, and the National Defense Service Medal (2) times. He served honorably in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Boatswains Mate. After 20 years of enlisted service, Bill worked for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Long Beach until fully retiring in 1978.
After retirement, Bill and family relocated to Chowchilla, CA where he resided for the past 43 years, raising 4 sons. His hobbies included bowling and buying and selling cars, which has been a lifetime hobby and business of his.
Bill’s experience in the Navy played an important role in his life. He frequently pointed out that Navy taught him the value of discipline, teamwork and hard work.
El Nido Missionary Baptist Church will host memorial services January 3rd at 11:00 at 10015 CA-59, El Nido, CA 9577. Following the memorial service will be a military funeral, Bill’s family will inter him at 2:00 pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella California. 32053 McCabe Rd, Santa Nella, CA 95322
