Patricia Lee (“Pat”) Ginsburg passed away at her home in Chowchilla on April 18th. She was 93 years old.
A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she was married for 57 years to her husband Al who died in 2007. She is survived by her three children, David, Michael, and Matthew and his wife Janet, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Raised during the depression, she developed a passion for reading and viewed literacy as a necessary step out of poverty. After high school, she went to work and volunteered with a local literacy program. Over the years, she helped hundreds of people to improve their reading, shared her love of books with friends and neighbors, and tutored countless children. When the local library closed, she led a fundraising drive for the construction of a new one. In gratitude for her efforts, a meeting room at the Chowchilla Library was named in her honor.
She was also a founding member of the local chapter of the Tenaya Guild, and along with Al, a leading donor to Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno. For many years, she helped organize the art exhibits at the Chowchilla Fair where her works often earned awards. She loved to paint, travel, spend time with her family, and simply curl up with her cat and a good book.
Pat Ginsburg will be remembered for her wisdom, kindness, and generosity.
A graveside service will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery in Fresno on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. In addition, a Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, June 25th in Chowchilla. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that memorial donations be made to the charity, Friends of the Chowchilla Library.
