Danny grew up in Chowchilla, CA with his parents Don and Verlene Wood, and older brother Craig Wood.
He attended Dairyland Elementary and Chowchilla High School where he excelled in baseball, wrestling,football, and track, winning the award for Most Athletic his senior year. After highschool he would continue playing football at Reedley College as starting linebacker. His team would go on to win a state championship. Danny continued his education at San Jose State, and Fresno State Universities.
After school he returned home to his family farm, Wood Ranches, where he would work, operate, and own until his final days.
Danny went on to marry the love of his life, Darcel Turk in 1982. They would be married for the next 42 years and she was by his side until he took his final breath.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle every chance he got, visiting the coast, educating his boys on farming, and attending every sporting event, with his binoculars in hand so he could always keep an eye on his boys. Danny fathered 5 sons, Brad, Seth, Chad, Dylan, and Billy, whom he loved very much. His license plate on his truck always read Wood_5B in honor of his 5 boys.
He is survived by his wife Darcel Wood, brother Craig Wood (Pam), and his 5 boys and their wives, Brad Wood (Leslie), Seth Wood (Annie), Chad Wood (Stephanie), Dylan Wood (Vanessa), William "Billy" Wood.
Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents T.C & Verna Wood, Paul & Verna Christopherson, his uncle Paul Christopherson JR. and his parents Don and Verlene Wood. Who were all waiting in heaven for his arrival.
To pay tribute to his spirit, we kindly request that attendees come dressed in either Harley Davidson or American Flag attire.
A Celebration of Life for Danny will be held at the Chowchilla Fairgrounds Little Theater,1000 South 3rd Street, Chowchilla, California 93610 on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
