Calvin Wesley Iverson, 92, of Chino, California, passed away on March 8, 2017 at home. He was born July 12, 1924 in Valley City, North Dakota and grew up learning to farm. In the 1940's Calvin taught himself to play the piano, accordion, guitar and harmonica all by ear as he grew up on his family farm. Calvin married his loving wife, Joyce Cecilia Sauer in 1950; they moved to Inglewood, CA in 1956 and raised their five children. Calvin and Joyce were active members of the Mayflower Lodge, Swedish Club since 1968. Calvin learned to fix cars at an early age and made a living as an auto mechanic for 45 years. Calvin called Chino his home and resided here since 1971. He was a faith-filled man and parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Chino for 46 years.
Calvin is survived by daughters Maxine Iverson Schalk (Tony), Rachel Iverson Andrews; sons Stanley Iverson (Diana), Wayne Iverson (Carlee) and Duane Iverson (Cindy), 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents George B. Iverson and Theresa E. (Schroeder) Iverson, sisters, Jeanette Iverson, Beatrice Krapf, Pearl Custis; brothers George Iverson, John Iverson, wife Joyce Cecilia (Sauer) Iverson in 2011 and grandson Kyle Iverson in 2016
Visitation hours will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Funeraria del Angel Chino with a rosary being at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Chino. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario.
