He was born on October 19, 1936 in Union County and was the son of the late John Fletcher Harrington and Bertha Mae Morgan Harrington. He was a member of New Covenant Baptist Church in Kannapolis.
Earlier in his life, he worked in the cotton mills and later became a self employed worker at full service gas stations. He particularly enjoyed working in the floral supply business. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and being out of doors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 11 years, Margie Hartsoe Harrington, his daughter Jannet Mae Harrington, his brothers John Hoyet Harrington, Kenneth Daniel Harrington and Charles "Chuck" Harrington as well as sister Lilly Mae Gainey, and grandson Rory Miller as well as a deceased great grandchild Calesha Curlee.
Those with cherished memories are his sons William Lee Harrington Jr. (Linda), John McKenly Harrington, Bobby Harrington and daughter Robin Miller and step daughter Linda Hartsoe Harrington and his sister Margaret Harrington Cline. His grandchildren are Robbie Miller, Daniel Harrington (Tonya), Catherine "Katie" Miller, Daniel A. Harrington, Brandy Triplett and Farris Miller. Also surviving him are numerous great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 1:00 till 2:00 pm at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral to follow at 2:00 pm also at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Steadman officiating with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
