Born in Buncombe County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Spurgeon Shell and Margaret Feimster Shell.
In addition to her parents, one sister, Virginia Barton, also preceded her in death.
Net graduated from South Rowan High School – Class of 1966, and Salisbury Business College – Class of 1967.
Net’s passion in life was children, having spent 22 years with Salisbury-Rowan Head Start. She especially loved her nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, attending their sports events as well as other achievements in their lives.
She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers, Michael (Judy) Shell and John (Sue) Shell; sisters, Frances Overcash and Elizabeth Leazer; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
The family will receive friends at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 4 to 5 p.m.
Rev. Will Van Wieren will officiate the funeral service honoring Net’s life, at the church, Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 5 p.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
