Jill Marlene Hamel

Jill Marlene Castor Hamel, age 90 of China Grove passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at her residence. She was born on February 6, 1934 in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late Adolfus Castor and Orphia McGalliard Castor. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools and was a past member of Emanuel Presbyterian and New Hope Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing basketball when she was in high school. Listening to music and playing the piano were some of her most recent enjoyments.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded by her brother Adolphus Castor Jr. and sister Suzy Hodges.Those with cherished memories are her husband of 69 years, Walter Hamel and her daughters Sharon H. Dorsett (David) and Kim H. Sutherland. She is also survived by her brother Johnny Castor and Michael Castor. Her grandchildren are Ashley Baker (Dale), Amber Bishop (Jamie), Michael Dorsett (Lisa) and Keith Dorsett (Lindsey). Great Grandchildren are McKenna Helms Dorsett, Monroe BIshop, Addison Dorsett and Greyson Eller

Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at West Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Bobby Utley, officiating.
