Mr. Moss was born on July 4, 1940 in Macon County and was the son of the late Howard Lee Moss Sr. and Ruba Beaver Moss.
A graduate of Landis High School, Harold worked in his earlier years for Cannon Mills in maintenance. Later he went to work and retired from Rowan Salisbury Schools, also in maintenance. He was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church in China Grove, where he was a member of the Methodist Men, assistant scout master of the Boy Scouts Troop 301. He and his wife Carol were youth leaders at the church as well.
He was an assistant coach for the China Grove Little League. Harold was a Master Mason of Eureka Masonic Lodge 283 in China Grove. He loved to go fishing and hunting in his spare time. He was known for his singing talents, having sung at church, where the congregation loved to hear him sing Beulahland and he was with two bands as lead singer for the Swingmaster Combo and the Nitetimes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his deceased brothers Howard Lee Moss Jr., Bill Moss and sisters Louise Ansley and Mildred Aderhold.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Carol Sechler Moss, daughter, Melody M. Newton (Glen), son H. Lloyd Moss Jr. (Dawn), brother Ed Moss (Kathy) sisters, Jean Hodges and Sonya Williams. His grandchildren are Cody Shoaf (Brittany), Haley Newton (Shaq) and Amanda Josiah. Great Grandchildren include Bentlee Shoaf, Maxton Shoaf, Lotte Josiah, and Carolyn Josiah.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in China Grove from 12:30 till 2:00 pm and funeral service to follow also at the church at 2:00 pm with Pastor Will Van Wieren, officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
