She was born February 4, 1934, and is the daughter of the late Fannie Mae Henley and Carl James Henley. She resided most of her life in Rowan County. Her careers included bookkeeper, telephone operator, clerical work, sewing shop owner, but most importantly she was a woman of faith, a loving wife, a homemaker, and a wondrous mother of four children.
She taught Sunday school for Landis Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a blessing to the lady’s classes she taught. Coleen was known for her laughter, elegance, kindness, and brought happiness to all whom she encountered.
She is survived by her twin brother Carlee Junior Henley of China Grove, NC, her two sons, Joel Wesley Thompson (Trey Owen) of Charlotte, NC, Alan Craig Thompson (Cindy Thompson) of Salisbury, NC, her two daughters Dani Thompson Howard (Sean Howard) of Sydney, Australia and Lorrie Beth Thompson Coulson of Roswell, GA.
She is also survived by three grandchildren: Joel Thorin Thompson of Atlanta, GA, Alana Gaye Thompson of Renova, PA, and Meghan Arrowood Yu (Stanley Yu) along with her first great grandchild Mina Yu of Seoul, Korea.
Viewing services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12 noon at Landis Baptist Church, 110 N. Kimmons Street, Landis, NC 28088, followed by the funeral service officiated by Pastor Mike Austin. Interment will follow immediately at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 S. Main Street, China Grove, NC, 28023.
