Born in Dunkirk, New York, she was the daughter of the late John H. Nelson and Susan Virginia Swanson Nelson.
In addition to her parents, her granddaughter, Izabelle Latta, also preceded Christine in death.
Christine worked as a material handler at Daimler Freightliner. Her passions in life included cooking, and rescuing animals. She always opened her home to any and all, and there was never a stray she could not love. She volunteered with Rowan County Humane Society, fostering and caring for many cats, but it was horses that she loved most of all. She loved camping and boating, and was very active on social media.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving companion of 20 years, James “Jim” Hunter, of the home; son, Nate Latta, who cherished and loved her with all his heart; daughter-in-law, Sara, who loved her like her own mother, both of Warren, PA; three grandchildren, Nate Jr. “Bubba”, Kevin Jr., and Madeline.
One brother, Carl Nelson and two sisters, Tammy Cogar and Tracy Hanes Urfer also survive her.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Rowan County Humane Society.
Words of comfort and memories may be shared at www.linn-honeycutt.com.
Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Nelson family.
