Joan Ada Alice Ellen Jones

Joan was born on a cold, winter, blizzard night on February 19, 1937 in Vermilion, Alberta, the third child of William & Edna Ferguson. Joan lived on the family farm north of Vermilion, Alberta until she married on December 17th, 1954. They moved to Summerland, BC and then to Burnaby where she lived with her husband for many years. During this time they were blessed with five children; Bill, Tim, Ron, Lenora and Shirley. Joan kept busy gardening, crocheting, knitting and looking after her children. In 1976 she remarried and lived in Burnaby with her husband Ed, her five children and Ed’s four children, until November 1993. She moved to Alberta for 10 years, living with her sister Winnie and brother-in-law Frank and then moved to the Redwood Manor in Chilliwack, BC where she lived until her passing.

Joan leaves to mourn her sons Ron (Sheryl), Tim (Sandy); daughters Lenora (Ray), Shirley; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her mother Edna (1991); father William (1951); husband Ed (2008); son William “Bill” (2014); stepson Dwayne (2016) and stepdaughter Carol (2014); sisters Isabel (1952), Diana (1995), Elsie (2011), Winnie (2021); brother-in-law Frank (2021) and brother William (2024).

A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 11:00 am at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave., Chilliwack.
