Following a three-month hospital stay, Mom spent her final days at Cascade Hospice, receiving excellent care from the nursing staff. The atmosphere at Cascade provided a home-like setting, allowing Jackie to be surrounded by her family and friends as they said their final goodbyes with singing, prayers, and heartfelt words of appreciation.
Jackie was predeceased by her siblings Rudy, Maartje, and Trudy, and by her husband Andrew in 1997. Together with Andrew, they enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found camping and fishing, activities that included their children in the early years of their marriage.
Jackie is survived by her daughters, Aleda Stam, Marcia (Martin) Les, and Elaine (Bill) Zwartbol; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jake (Bev) and John; and four sisters, Jan (Bert) Stam, Cathy (Gerry) Van Klei, Fran (Bob) Evanuik, and Dina (John) Neels. She also leaves behind brothers-in-law, Dave (Gail) De Bruin and George Isaak (Bonnie).
Jackie was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending quality time with her family and was always interested in everyone’s current activities. Those close to her knew how important her family was to her. Even when family members moved away, she regularly made trips to visit them.
Spending time with her family was one of Jackie’s most cherished activities, bringing her immense joy and fulfillment. Her descendants have many fond memories of “Mom” and “Oma” devoting her time to each of them individually. She was always ready to drop everything at a moment’s notice to help out as needed.
Jackie’s devotion to the Lord will be remembered by her family and friends. She demonstrated her love for Jesus and others through her compassion, care, and active involvement in their lives.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Jackie’s extensive care teams at Chilliwack General Hospital and Cascade Hospice for providing compassionate care. We are also grateful for Pastor Procee and the many volunteers for their faithful care.
