Gladys Stephens

With great sadness, we announce Gladys Stephens passed away peacefully, at age 84, on Monday, September 19, 2011 at CGH, Chilliwack, BC. She was born on June 16, 1927 in Nottingham, England and came to Canada in 1947 as a war bride.

Gladys is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Harold Stephens. Her love and gracious-giving ways will be forever treasured by her three children, Sharon Lupichuk, (Bernie), Neil Stephens, (Cynthia), and Grant Stephens, (Dahrlyne), nine grandchildren: Sasha Lupichuk, (Sandro Reffo) and Jennifer Lupichuk, (Rustom Punja); Andrea Ciccarelli, (nee Stephens) (Larry), Jeremy Stephens, (Jody), Patrick Stephens, (Mallory Green), and Adrian Stephens; Timothy Stephens, Bradley Stephens, and Matthew Stephens; and eight great-grandchildren: Liam, Amani, Connell, Shireen, Joven, Cara, Tarek, and Esther. She faithfully kept in touch over the years with her dear nieces and nephews in England and Australia, and will be fondly remember by them. Her parents, John and Esther, and her seven siblings predeceased Gladys: Roy, Dennis, John, Bernie, Alice, Julie, and Dora. Throughout her life, Gladys showed love and acceptance to many who have been forever affected by her sincere, caring nature.

A Service of Thanksgiving for her life will be held Friday, September 30 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, 4550 Kitchener Street, Burnaby, BC. In loving memory of Gladys, donations may be made to the British Columbia Lung Association.
