To my big sister Sharon.  You were my Maid of Honor, my confident, my support system, and a best friend.  There are so many wonderful memories of you but the ones that stick in my mind were your signature traits: So many of us remember your amazing Donald Duck impression. You were a true Irishman, so everytime I see a  shamrock I'll think of you.  You loved to take pictures, and garden.  You taught me how to tie my shoes with two bunny ears. You showed great pride in being a "lefty".  If there was a way, you always made every effort to attend a birthday, funeral, wedding, christening, or graduation to show support to loved ones.  Especially this past year, once I got unlimited phone minutes, I loved our phone conversations any time of day or night. And yes, I had the gift of gab, but you never cut me off even during a favorite t.v. show. Sharon, you were so good about getting a card in the mail to acknowledge someone's birthday, etc. You had this special trademark smiley freckled face at the closing of each card. It always made me smile. I took as many memories of you home in my suitcase. You will always be my big sister but now my angel as well. Look out over me.  Love, XO, Kitty

Sharon, I am going to miss you so much.  You were part of my life for so many years.  First at IBM, where we had lunch every Friday with Dee and Barbara for so many years, and then on Gunnison where you moved into the apt. upstairs.  Then when my daughter Antonia moved in and you did your Donald Duck impressions for her, which she still remembers to this day.  After we left IBM we kept in touch with phonecalls and occasional dinners and over the last few years you were the bravest and most upbeat person - I admired you immensely.  You were always so much fun to be with and so amusing.  I know you are up there making everbody laugh and having a great time.

I lived in the same building as Sharon for the past 8 years, and she was always a pleasure to be around.  Each of our interactions was positive, and I am greatly saddened to hear of her loss.  I am sure she is gardening up in heaven, with a great load lifted off her shoulders.  My sympathies to her family and friends.

I remember Sharon from her years at IBM. She was always pleasant to work with. May God bless the Fitzgerald family. Remember that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

I was in Sharon's class at Regina. We knew that we were distant cousins but we never figured out exactly how.

I was so sorry to hear of Sharon's passing.  She had such strength and never appeared to be sad during her illness.  She will be missed.  I will always remember the good times we had at work and the discussions regarding her trips to visit her family.  My thoughts and prayers are with Sharon and the FitGerald family.

To Sharons family and friends,
I was also  a next door neighbor to Sharon on Gunnison for 14 years and although I moved 3 streets North I just recently saw her at a Community meeting months ago. Sharon was an avid gardner like me, I also helped control the massive rose bush she planted, complained about the explostion of Morning Glorys on both our sides of the fence. She came over to "our side" to attend garden parties and football watching yard afternoons with all of us.  . I also watched her cats when she was traveling to see her beloved family and rode the bus with her to work for years.  She had a big heart, laugh and told some great stories!!  I wlill miss her, and sad we lost another amazing friend  but you can be sure she is starting a garden in heaven and looking out for us all.  She had a long struggle and was positive and amaizng thruout!  Just by the testiments of all on this site she impacted a lot of lives with her kindness and friendship.

Our hearts are filled with wonderful memories of many joyful celebrations with you,Sharon.You fought a long,hard battle with never a complaint and always a smile and encouraging word for others. We will miss you always.

I was deepley sadness by the loss of our good friend Sharon, she not only was a great friend to our Auntie Barbara and to the rest of the family, but she was like an Aunt to all of us kids!  I am so glad she got to meet our daughter Holly and do the donald duck impression for her.  I will always tell her about Sharon as she grows up.  Sharon was always such a joy to talk too and to be around.  Thank you for being such an inspiration to all of us Sharon and we promise to always and forever take good care of Auntie Barbara for you!!  You are Forever in our Hearts & will be Forever Missed!! There is a piece of you in all of us.   You always lit up the room with your cheerfulness, and smile.

Sharon, I was shocked to hear the news! I have very fond memories of knowing you at IBM. You were my weekly "weigh-in" buddy to try and lose weight. You were always such a pleasant person to be around...so much fun and a great sense of humor! 

I'm certain you're in a better place now. Remember, God always needs more angels. My heart goes out to your wonderful family and friends, as I know how much they loved you. God love you Sharon! I will keep you in my prayers each night.

We had the joy of being Sharon's neigbors for several years.  Over the back fence between our buildings we battled out of control rose bushes and difficult growing conditions.  None of this slowed Sharon's love of nature and planting.  Her wry wit and endless energy gave special brightness to every conversation.  She was a kind soul with a generous and loving heart.  Everyone should be blessed with a Sharon as a neighbor and friend.

My heart is broken after hearing of the loss of my cousin Sharon. I prayed constantly everyday, hoping that she would win this battle. I will miss her very much. One of Joanne's best memories is how well you and she hit it off when she moved to Chicago!  We will both miss you smile!

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Sharon at IBM. Her personality and sense of humor was pleasurable to say the least. I was sad to hear she lost her battle, but I will keep the family lifted in prayer.

Darling Sharon, you are now resting in the arms of the Lord and our hearts ache with your loss.  We have been blessed to have you in our family for so many years, and our sister Barbara had the best friend anyone could ask for.   What a difference you made in our lives!  You celebrated with us on all the weddings, birthdays, holidays, and especially loving the arrival of baby after baby.  Will any of us ever see or hear Donald Duck and not have a smile remembering the giggles of babies through the years.
