Ruby had an incredible zest for life, deeply loved her family and friends and of course, loved dogs. Ruby loved to get to know people, understand different cultures, motivate others and make people laugh with her witty sense of humor. She made everyone feel welcome, accepted and loved with her beautiful smile.
Ruby was the owner of K9 University in Chicago. For more than 20 years Ruby, together with her caring staff provided doggy day-care services, training and boarding for dogs across the city.
Ruby was active in the small business community of Chicago. In 2019, she was awarded the Illinois Rising Star Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The Illinois Rising Star Award is given to only two business leaders out of thousands nominated each year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
In her travels and exploration of Mèxico, she discovered and adopted Mèrida, Yucatan as her second home. Here, she had many friends whom she considered family. Ruby founded Mèrida Medical Tourism, which offers quality medical tourism in Mèxico though facilitators who help individuals receive access to low cost health clinics, providing superior medical services.
Ruby and her kindness, good-nature, generosity and love of life will be profoundly missed by many.
Preceded in death by her father, Claudio Madrigal, Ruby is survived by her devoted mother, Amelia Madrigal Saldaña (Roberto); cherished siblings, Claudia Madrigal, Mario Madrigal and Violet Saldaña; adoring nieces, Yelaina Madrigal and Ashley Madrigal; her loving partner, Fernando Garza as well as countless faithful friends, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 27th at Malec & Sons Funeral Home in Chicago from 2pm-6pm. A Chapel service at 5:00 PM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home.
A Catholic Mass and Celebration of Life will held at a later date in Mèrida, Yucatan Mèxico.
