Michael Lee Harber, 40, of Oak Park, Illinois passed away suddenly on August 5, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born January 7, 1981 to Patty Ann Price in Naples, Florida. Michael attended St. Philip Catholic High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. He served in the United States Navy in 2000. He received his Associate’s Degree from Kellogg Community College in 2008 in Battle Creek, Michigan. While in Michigan, Michael worked at Mann’s Landscape and Gardens in Richland, Michigan.
Michael and Diana relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 2005. Michael received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois in 2010 where he double-majored in Political Science and History. Michael worked for many years in catering for J & L Catering, as the Back-of-House/Bar Manager at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, and as an Operations Apprentice at People’s Gas all in Chicago, Illinois.
Michael and Diana Kotis-Harber were married on September 1, 2007. She survives. Also surviving are their children, Cyrus John Harber, Willow Athalia Harber, and Anthe Claire Harber all of Oak Park; his mother, Patty (Jamie) Price of Old Hickory, TN; his brother, Matthew Harber of TN; his brother-in-laws, Mark “Brandon” Watson of Denver, CO and Ric Green of Battle Creek, MI; many aunts and uncles throughout the Midwest; his Godparents Donald Kincaide and Tracy Crawford-Kincaide of Chicago, IL and his Godchildren; Christopher Wilson of Athens, MI and Journi Wilson of Battle Creek, MI. Additionally, he is survived by many cousins he considered siblings and countless special friends.
Michael was proceeded in death by his brother-in-law John Efthim Kotis, his mother in-law Becky (Richard) Green; his father-in-law, James Efthimios Kotis, his Grandparents Betty and Clair Watson, his Great-Grandmother Mary D. Lane, and his brother Corey Green.
Michael’s greatest joy in life was being a father and spending time with his children, family, and friends. Michael was a musician and talented in many areas related to music including writing, recording and listening to music. He enjoyed traveling, camping, golfing, watching movies and T.V., gardening/landscaping, and attending concerts and outdoor festivals. Michael was a man of faith in God and studied the Bible in his free time.
Michael will have a celebration of his life on Friday, September 3, 2021 at MONTCLAIR-LUCANIA Funeral Home at 6901 W. Belmont Avenue in Chicago, IL 60634. Family will receive guests from 11:00AM-12:30PM. Memorial services will be officiated by Pastor Oscar Leiva at 12:30PM. He will eternally rest both with his family via cremation as well through burial at Elm Lawn Cemetery at 401 East Lake St. in Elmhurst, IL 60126. A procession to the cemetery will take place immediately following the memorial services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his children.
