Jose Luis Pagan, beloved Dad, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Survived by his daughter Cristina; his sisters Nilda, Lesvy, and Arlene; his brothers Edgardo, Eric, Ramie and Frank; and once wife - always friend- Cathy. Beloved by his many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico in 1949, he came to Chicago at the age of 3. Jose served in the US Army, saw combat in Vietnam and did a tour in Germany where he sampled many fine beers.
Jose enjoyed fishing, going to the latest movies, and traveling. A fond memory was his 2002 trip to Peru and Ecuador with his daughter Cristina. Sailing to the Galapagos Islands and going to the top of Machu Picchu were a once in a lifetime experience. Another favorite pastime was hiking in the woods with his cousin Fito. He also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling with his nephew Jarret. Jose was an animal lover (especially dogs) and was hoping to get some dogs once he settled into his next home. He was also a great lover of "oldies", salsa music and old spanish ballads.
He retired from Gold Eagle Company after 36 years and was looking forward to retirement. Post retirement, Jose traveled to South Carolina and Florida seeking his next adventure.
Generous towards all, he was always ready to help, be it with a hammer, a ride, or a sympathetic ear. He will be missed by us all, but he will never be far from us as we carry him in our hearts. Maybe he's up there in heaven chasing his puppies and telling tales of the giant fish that got away.
