Joan Marguerite McKay

Joan was born and raised in Chicago, where she met and married her beloved husband, James Patrick McKay and together they raised nine children and were proud parishioners of St Gregory the Great.

Joan loved to celebrate holidays big and small with friends and family sharing meals, memories and laughs. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joan was also was a proud member of the Ladies Elks Club in both Illinois and Wisconsin. In her later years, she built a home on Lake Delavan and volunteered her time for Meals On Wheels and Blood Drives. Joan enjoyed the close community of Assembly Park on Lake Delavan and her large family gathered there often to celebrate holidays.

Joan is survived by her children: Ellen (Bob) Peronto, Jim (MaryJo) McKay Jr., Peter McKay, Peggy (Jim) Ignoffo, Marty McKay, Bob (Mary) McKay, Bill (China) McKay, Katie McKay and Matthew McKay. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation Monday, July 11, 4-8pm at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago, 60625. Funeral Mass, 10am Tuesday July 12 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5545 N. Paulina St., Chicago, 60625. Interment to follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
