Harriet Chlebek, 84, of Mount Dora, FL passed peacefully on Saturday, December 26th. Although the speed of her passing was a shock, we are thankful that she was comfortable and that we were able to spend time with her to say goodbye.
Much loved mother of Stella (Steve) Spilotro and Christopher (Christine) Chlebek. Cherished grandmother of Steven (Stacie) Spilotro, Alyssa Chlebek and Alexandra Chlebek. Great grandmother of Sebastian Spilotro.
Harriet was born in Czarny Dunajec, Poland on December 15, 1936 to Ludwig and Alexandra Kipta. She was married to Stanley Chlebek in 1962. The couple immigrated to the United States (Chicago, IL) in August of 1965. Harriet was proud to become a United States Citizen in 1974.
Harriet held various jobs throughout her life. She considered her biggest accomplishment being promoted and trained as a cookie baker at Kraft Foods. She took great pride in her work, always making sure to deliver top-quality cookies.
Harriet was a loving mother, helping her children whenever they needed it. She especially loved her roles as grandmother and great grandmother. She had a green thumb and was an avid gardener. She grew amazing vegetables and gorgeous flowers. When she wasn’t gardening, she kept busy sewing, knitting, cooking and baking.
In 2019 after suffering a stroke, her daughter Stella relocated her to Mount Dora, FL. After her relocation there were ups and downs with her health but we are lucky to have many happy memories spending time together at her “home” away from home. We’re so thankful to all those that cared for her. They did a great job engaging her in activities and providing TLC when she needed it. She enjoyed dancing with the staff, having her hair done, participating in various excursions and, of course, pulling weeds.
Rest in peace, we love you and will miss your smile, laughter and support terribly.
