Frances Mary Walker, 69, talented pianist and organist, of Chicago’s Arcadia Terrace neighborhood, passed away October 10, 2022. Born in St. Charles Illinois, Fran graduated from Downers Grove South High School before earning her B.A. in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign and her M.F.A. in Piano Performance from Northwestern University’s School of Music. Fran was a devoted Catholic who respected all religions. She was kind, caring, positive, and spunky. She was a devoted sister to her disabled brother Stan. Music was her life, and church music was her ministry. Beloved wife of fifteen years to Hristo Mantchev. Loving sister of Charles Stanton “Stan", Arnold “Arnie” (Maggie), Benita (Joseph Senulis) and Jerome “Jerry” Walker. Beloved aunt of many. Preceded in death by first husband Thomas Sternick, brothers Peter and Ernest “Ernie” Walker, parents Charles Robert Walker and Lillian Frances Walker (nee Dowdell), and her beloved terrier/Chihuahua mix Lukey.
