Edith Eileen Hurlbert was born in David City, Nebraska, on August 16th, 1929, to Aubrey and Floy Hurlbert.
She had one older brother, Robert, and enjoyed an idyllic small-town childhood. She was raised Lutheran and gave her life to the Lord at a young age. She came to Chicago after high school to attend Moody Bible Institute, where she graduated in 1952. After graduation, she worked for MBI in the accounting department for many years. She also volunteered for the Salvation Army during her retirement years. Edith loved cats, drawing, reading mysteries, and researching genealogy. She had a quick wit, lively sense of humor, and a clever way with words. She was ever modest about her talents, and always saw the good in other people. She was loved by all who knew her. She obtained her heavenly reward on July 1st, 2019, passing peacefully into the arms of her Savior at Bethany Retirement Community in Chicago, IL. She is survived by many friends and family who will treasure her memory.
