On Sunday, February 11, 2024, Gary Powers, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away at the age of 58, while at Hillcrest Hospital with family at his side. Gary fought a long and courageous battle of many health issues including cancer and was never known to complain. He continued to work for his generous and understanding employer, Distillata of Cleveland, Ohio for 38 years. Gary was born May 13, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Sue Powers and the late Frank Powers. Gary was one of five children. He was a proud graduate of West Geauga High School, Class of 1983. Gary was an incredible single parent who raised two beautiful daughters. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being with his daughters and attending their activities. He was a huge fan of the Browns and Guardians and enjoyed watching games. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Abby and Grace, mother Sue, brothers Jim (Sue), Tom (Shelley), Paul (Kathi) and sister Cheryl Spiler (Mark) and many nieces and nephews along with grand nieces and nephews. Gary will also be missed by numerous other family members, friends and co-workers. Gary was preceded in death by his loving father Frank Powers. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Anselm Church, Chesterland on March 9, 2024, at 11:15 am. A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio where Gary will be near his father.
