Wayne Sadler, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 27, 2010. He was born on May 15, 1927 in Bland, Virginia to the late Edgar and Mable Sadler. He was a sales representative for Celetex Corporation for 30 years. Wayne was a member of Central Baptist Church in Woodmore for 26 years where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. A member of Brainerd Baptist Church for 28 years where he served as chairman of the House and Grounds committee, Sunday School teacher, deacon and was part of the telephone ministry. After his retirement in 1992 he became a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Wayne was a veteran having served in the United States Marines.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Rue of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; sister, Oma Farmer of Bland, Virginia; brothers, Herman Sadler of Narrows, Virginia, Elmo Sadler of Bland, Virginia.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Helen Pedigo Sadler of Chattanooga; daughter, Patricia Standifer and husband Wales of Chattanooga; two sons, Edgar Wayne Sadler and wife Melanie of Chattanooga and James B. Sadler and wife Jane of Chickamauga, Georgia; grandchildren, Marcus Standifer and wife Cara of Ringgold, Georgia, Carly Adderholt and husband Matthew of Ringgold, Georgia, Matthew Sadler and wife Tonya of Chattanooga, Adam Rue and wife Shannon of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Angee Strickland and husband Daryl of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Sarah Huggins and husband Brad of Lafayette, Georgia and Emily Sadler of Chattanooga; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 A.M. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. George Clark officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Active Pallbearers will be Ed Sadler, Jim Sadler, Marcus Standifer, Matthew Sadler, Adam Rue, Matthew Adderholt, Brad Huggins and Daryl Strickland. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Eustice Bethany Sunday School Class at Brainerd Baptist Church. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
