She was born in Alabama but was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her family and close friends knew her as Mymya.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Tankersley; sisters, Kathryn Tankersley "Kitty" and Betty Welch; brother, HL Tankersley; and daughter, Tracie Roden.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Swaney; son, Jeffrey Swaney; grandson, Noah Swaney (wife, Caitlin Swaney); and granddaughter, Kate Mann (husband, Travis Mann).
Mymya had a kind heart, was always selfless with others and prioritized their needs over hers. She never met a stranger and never failed to brighten any room that she walked into. She loved her grandkids. She also loved to cook and bake. Mymya had a variety of interests from watching TV, listening to music (her favorite artists: Hall and Oats, Engelbert Humperdink, and The Bee Gees), and she enjoyed playing Solitaire.
She loved her 2 dogs Mollie and Maggie, and a great sense of humor. She will be remembered as someone that you could always count on.
The family wants to thank Adoration Hospice Care for their excellent kindness and compassion.
