Nelson DeWitt Hall, 76, of Chattanooga, a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2011. He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church and the Faithful Shepherds Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Nelson was a Master Mason and a member of Ooltewah Lodge #741 F&AM having just received his 50 year pin. He was retired as an electrician from ADT after 37 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Chapman and Helen Irene Moyer Hall.
Survivors include his two daughters, Tammy Matthews (Mark) and Renae Gentry; three grandchildren, Daniel Gentry, Hanna Matthews and Weston Matthews; two sisters, Mary Fugate (Ray) and Helen McDaniel; one niece, Stacie Brown.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Erlanger Hospital South 9 and Life Care of East Ridge for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Hamby and Ronnie Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with a Masonic Service.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
