Mrs. Sims was born and raised in Hamilton County. She attended Gamble Road Baptist Church and was a former employee of Morrison’s Cafeteria at Hamilton Place. She and her late husband were members of the Scenic City Cruzers. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and bicycling and always said that giving birth to her three babies was one of her greatest accomplishments in life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Hubert “Bullet” Sims; daughter, Christina “Cricket” Bowers; parents, James and Mary Holt; and in-laws, Arnold and Dorothy Sims.
Surviving are her daughters, Lorrie (Greg) Peters and Bridgette (Donny) Glasier; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Tommy (Sue) Holt; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Brenda (Larry) Fortner; and brothers-in-law, Steve Sims and Arnold “Tweetie” (Shelly) Sims, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, January 26th at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Thursday, January 27th at Gamble Road Baptist Church, 11703 Dolly Pond Road, Birchwood, TN 37308 with Rev. Josh Cornelius officiating.
Burial will follow at Williamson Cemetery.
