Marie Claude Richard

The matriarch of our family, Marie-Claude Richard, has passed. Our source of strength and inspiration succumbed this Saturday, January 03, 2015 at her home in Ringgold, Georgia. Marie-Claude Richard represented comfort, home, and love for her family.

Marie-Claude appreciated a good joke, fine cooking, romantic stories, and gardening. However, her meaning in life was found in her family. She adored family and never passed up an opportunity to play with one of her grandchildren or great grandchildren, serve as a surrogate mother in times of need, or serve as a voice of reason amidst the chaos of a large family. Marie-Claude loved deeply and gave willingly. Her spirit and passions manifested in everything that she did.

Marie-Clause was a successful entrepreneur and business owner who helped build one of the most popular Fabric and Design Studios in North Miami. The business stayed open for more than thirty years before she retired to Ringgold, Georgia. Marie will be remembered as a Renaissance woman who embodied women power. She was a devoted mother, entrepreneur, grandmother, landscaper, connoisseur of style, and recreational casino critic. Yes, Marie Claude loved her slot machines, occasional card game, and roulette table. This is not to suggest that she was a gambler, rather it is meant to represent how this woman lived and loved her life. She worked hard, loved hard, played hard, lived passionately, and made no apologies doing it. And, through it all, we loved her for it. Rest in peace mom, rest in peace grandma, rest in peace nana, rest in peace Mrs. Richard, may God bless you and keep you.

She is survived by one son, six daughters, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 12:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Father Manuel Perez officiating.

Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
