Judy Abercrombie Johnston’s fifteen year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease ended on October 6, 2018. Judy did not lose that battle, because now she has moved into the eternal realm that is never ending. She now resides in the presence of King Jesus. Judy was born in Chattanooga, TN where she attended East Ridge High School, Edmundson Business College, and Chattanooga State Community College. She worked for several years with TVA, however for many years she worked alongside her husband, Alan Johnston, in their family business. Judy loved music from many genres, and was an accomplished vocalist. In addition to singing she was also an avid dancer. Her love for music was most visible as a member of the choir and music ministry at Abba’s House in Hixson.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Kelly and Elzora Abercrombie and her father and mother-in-law Billy and Iva Johnston. Judy was also predeceased by two sisters, Mary Lewis and Helen Hart.
Judy is survived by her husband Alan Johnston; two daughters, Joy (Charles) Clemons and Jennifer (Alfred) Odister; her great joy was the three grandchildren, Katie, Maggie and Alex; and great grandson Benjamin came along when Judy could no longer respond, but we choose to believe that she understood when he would pat her hand and ask, “you okay?” Judy is also survived by brothers David (Mary) Abercrombie, Roy (Geneva) Abercrombie, and sister-in-law Donna (Glen) Dunagan. In addition there are many nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home at 8214 East Brainerd Road and Monday, October 8, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Abba’s House, 5208 Hixson Pike.
