James Aaron “Jim” Crittenden, age 74, of Ooltewah, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 17, 2015. He was born October 27, 1940 in Athens, Tennessee to the late Aaron and Nora Lee Crittenden.
Jim was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was in the Agape Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of UCLA and was retired from TVA as a Nuclear Engineer after more than 20 years of service.
Mr. Crittenden was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
In the 1990’s he started a local motorcycle chapter of GWRRA called Choo Choo Wings.
Upon retirement he and his wife enjoyed lots of travel with many motor home friends in the Tennessee Ridge Runners.
He was an avid Tennessee Vols Football fan.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Owens Crittenden, Thurman Crittenden, Margaret Gregory, Rachel Carroll, and Inez Crittenden.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Patti Crittenden; sister, Charlotte Fleck of Rosenberg, Texas; brother, Howell Riley Crittenden of Athens, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Jimmie Vance of Knoxville; special niece, Gale Hodge of Soddy Daisy; and numerous other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thanks to the caregivers from Hospice of Chattanooga.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Valley View Chapel with Rev. Bruce Daugherty officiating.
Inurnment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday June 22, 2015 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Park Baptist Church, Building Fund, 6735 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421; or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
