A native of Springfield, MO, she has been a resident of the Chattanooga and the North Georgia area for the past 18 years, and was a member of the Ooltewah Baptist Church. She was employed with the Walker County Board of Education as a Guidance Counselor at Lafayette High School. She received a Master’s in Psychology and Counseling from Troy State and another Master’s in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University. She was also a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. She was an avid reader, managed a blog for professional educators, but most importantly she was a devoted wife and loving mother.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Bastin and nephew, Will Jackson Myers.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Vowell; son, Peyton Riley Vowell; father Jerry (Lisa) Bastin, El Paso, TX; mother Norma Brown, Big Lake, TX; siblings, Rhonda (John) Morrison, Albin, WY, Gerald (Michelle) Bastin and Shelly (Scott) Myers both of Big Lake, TX; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Ooltewah Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Colloms officiating. Interment will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon Wednesday until the time of service at the church.
