Glynn Taylor, age 79 ,of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, January 19,2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a deacon and a member for over 40 years at Concord Baptist Church where he also was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He was a volunteer at HACOBA Mission in St. Elmo. He retired from Combustion Engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving in the Korean Conflict and was one of the few survivors in the Chosin Reservoir Battle.
Preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Carrie Bates Taylor; two brothers, Kermit and Pat Taylor.
Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Charlotte Taylor; two daughters, Rhonda(Tom)Gilliland of Arlington, Texas and Glynda(David) Sells of Lafayette, Georgia; two sons, Michael(Kathy) Taylor of Ringgold, Georgia and James(Wendy) Taylor of Rossville, Georgia; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don Taylor of Cleveland, Tennessee and Kenneth Taylor of Athens, Tennessee; two sisters, Barbara Couch of Melton, Florida and Mary McDonald of Benton, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
The family extends their appreciation to Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving and caring service.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 10 AM at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. David King officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
