Glen Getz of Chattanooga, TN was taken to be home with the Lord on January 8, 2023. Glen was born on October 1st, 1936 in Morton, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Rachel of 62 years, son Tom (Karol), daughter Julie (Mark) Harris of Danville, KY, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and brother, Roy (Phyllis) of Morton, IL.
Glen served in the U.S. Army for 2 years prior to attending Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated with an Industrial Engineering degree and later attended the Engineering Administration graduate program. He worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Co., Caterpillar, and retired from Central Illinois Light Co. (Ameren) in 1996.
After spending most of their married life in the Peoria area, Glen & Rachel moved to the Chattanooga area to be closer to their family. Glen was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian church where he served as a deacon and member of the church choir.
In his retirement he enjoyed serving with several charitable organizations, spending time with his family, and making furniture. Much of this furniture is still being used in his children’s and grandchildren’s homes.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
