Mrs. Colston was born and raised in Birchwood, TN to the late James and Lennie Bare. She was a graduate of Carson-Newman College and retired as a school teacher from Hamilton County Schools where she worked at several schools including Westview Elementary. She was also a former member of Tyner United Methodist Church.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Linda Colston, Sarah (Gary) Redmon, Gloria (Barry) Sanford; grandchildren, Daniel (Megan) Redmon, Chris Redmon, David (Molly) Redmon, Samuel (Suann) Sanford, Suzanne (Adam) Tuck and Lauren Sanford; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen Thigpen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Colston; and sisters, Elizabeth Randolph and Louise Johnson.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
