Donnie T. Pendergrass, 67, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, was surrounded by his family as he departed this life and joined his Heavenly Father on March 24, 2014. Donnie was born on October 19, 1946, in Guntersville, AL. Donnie spent his childhood in Flintville, TN. As an adult, he lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast before he and his wife moved to the Chattanooga area, where they have resided for the past twenty-seven years. Donnie was employed by Alstom Power at its Chattanooga plant as the Director of Operations. He was a faithful employee of Alstom and its predecessors for more than twenty-seven years.
Donnie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed God's beauty through nature. Donnie enjoyed bass fishing, hunting, and meandering motorcycle rides with his wife and best-friend, Sherry. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He was a man of integrity, strength and compassion whose mark has been left on the hearts of many. Donnie was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church.
Donnie is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Goff Pendergrass; three loving daughters, Kelly Pendergrass Hunter (Lee), Hailey Owenby, and Lindsay Owenby; three grandchildren, River and Baylor Dees (Kelly Hunter) and Taylor Tucker (Lindsay Owenby); three sisters, Linda Simmons, Sandra Stone, and Carolyn McNeese (Percy); and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, T.L. and Violet Edmondson Pendergrass, and his grandson, Isaiah Brown.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Valley View Chapel, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held for the family on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in Wade, Mississippi.
Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
