Born on February 6, 1939 Dave was 84 years old. He was preceded in death by his darling wife, Georgia; parents, Curtis A. and Mary Beatrice Wolfe; two brothers, Pledger Wolfe, Jimmy Wolfe and two sisters, Betty Randolph and Brenda Davis.
Dave was born in Chattanooga and attended Bradley High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. His family later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. During this time, he met and married Georgia Mae Stephenson and started a family. Subsequently, he attended Ohio State University and began a career in industrial management. In 1971, he moved back to Chattanooga to work with his uncle in the restaurant business. He later founded his own facility maintenance business, which his son and grandsons continue to operate today. Dave was also an avid fan of local high school and UTC wrestling – a passion that lasted throughout his life.
Despite his success and interests, Dave always considered his family to be his greatest treasure and credited his sweetheart of 63 years of making their home a heaven on earth. Dave and Georgia married on July 18 in 1958, and were later sealed together forever in the Salt Lake temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have 9 children, 40 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren.
Dave and Georgia were committed to God. They voluntarily served in various offices of the Church, including as full-time missionaries in Singapore/Malaysia, and Sacramento, CA. Dave also served as bishop of the Chattanooga 2nd Ward, and as patriarch for the Chattanooga stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
For family and friends who weep with us, we share these words from Russell M. Nelson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “Our limited perspective [about death] would be enlarged,” he says, “if we could witness the reunion on the other side of the veil, when doors of death open to those returning home” (Nelson, Doors of Death, April 1992).
We know, as he also taught, that “the only length of life that seems to satisfy the longings of the human heart is life everlasting” (ibid). Thankfully, life is everlasting because of Jesus Christ –the Savior and Redeemer of the world – who lives and who “shall wipe away all tears from [our] eyes” (Revelation 21:4).
Our love for Dad and Mom is worlds without end, as is our gratitude that they are home. Praise be to God for a merciful plan of happiness and redemption that makes reunion possible.
