Bruce is preceded in death by his parents William and Mayme Dunn, son James L. Dunn, brother John W. Dunn and sister Edith Bartels.
Bruce is survived by the mother of his children and friend to the end, JoAnn W. Dunn of Bradenton, FL; son Bruce F. Dunn of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter and son in law Cindy and Paul Lyons of Flowery Branch, GA; granddaughter Rachel Lyons (nicknamed Duly by her Papa) and sister Sue LaBlanc.
Bruce was given the nickname of “Dead Eye Dunn” when he played basketball in high school. He served in the military, worked with many charities and was a Mason with the Shriners. Bruce retired from the Corp of Engineers and headed south to pursue his love for sailing. Although when FEMA called, he wouldn’t pass a chance to go back out in the field. There was never a stranger he met nor a story he couldn’t tell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ooltewah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
