Margaret Jean Rooney

Margaret Jean Rooney, 82, of Chatham, MA passed away on Friday, January 26th peacefully surrounded by loved ones in her family’s home. She was the dear wife of the late James Rooney for 60 years. Margaret was born in Windsor, Ontario Canada to the late Delores (Dodich) Mackie. Jimmy and Margaret met on the beach in Cape Cod and continued a long-distance relationship for a year before marrying. They were newlyweds and living in Windsor, Ontario for a year before moving back to Jim’s hometown of Windsor Connecticut. They lived there for 35 years before moving to their dream home in Chatham Massachusetts.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved son Hugh by 19 days. She also leaves her daughter in law Monica (Colby) Rooney and Grandchildren Blake, Brooke and Spencer. She is also survived by her daughter, Christine Rooney, husband Russell Isch and Grandchildren Madisyn and Mackenzie.

Margaret also leaves behind her dear friends Lorraine, Beverly, and Joan along with her late friend Eileen of many years.

Margaret and Jim loved their family and Cape Cod home both indoor and out. They vacationed every year in Anna Maria Island where they spent every minute on the beach.

Her visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA followed by her Funeral Mass at 11AM in Our Lady of Grace Chapel, Route 137, South Chatham.
