He was born on October 1, 1954, in Springfield, IL, the son of Lloyd and Joyce Zimmerman Cox. Lloyd married Billie Jackson on December 23, 1987, in Springfield, and she survives.
Lloyd worked as a truck driver for over thirty years. He worked for Curry Trucking in Springfield for over 17 years and then most recently for McLeod Trucking in Decatur for fourteen years, retiring this past September due to health. While working in the trucking industry, he received several awards with both Curry Trucking and McLeod Trucking for top safety driver. He enjoyed fishing, yardwork, western shows, cooking, country music and being a very simple man. He was loyal, tender-hearted, and a family man.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Cox; and three brothers, Steve Cox, Terry Cox, and Jerry Cox.
In addition to his wife, Billie Cox of Chatham, Lloyd is survived by three children, Carrie (Kenny) Miller of Taylorville, IL, Travis Berndt of Pawnee, IL, and Brooke (Chris) Trail of Trilla, IL; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held in Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
